Day 87

This picture over all took me about 3 hours to make. I spent a lot of time messing with new software to control my camera with my computer. Then editing the photo also took it's sweet time. But its now up for your viewing pleasure. I hope you like it!

Day 86

When it rained this morning I went out and took this picture. Darkening everything but the sky made it look like night. A really kool effect if you ask me.

Day 85

Yes. This is my brother. He is way over the age limit on this thing and obviously does not fit at all. I think he needs to get a new ride but they just be me.

Day 84

Several people have come to me saying that they have noticed that some of these pictures are posted late and even some the next day. I apologize for this. I know I have been a little slacking when it comes to posting the pictures everyday on the day. I promise I am taking pictures everyday but its hard to keep everything together because I have to juggle two online classes for school as well as my Eagle Project for scouts. I have a lot of demands for my time! I am always learning though. That is what this project started as. I had to do a project for school but I wanted to do something to further my photography skills as well. It just so happened that the two meshed together really well. This project has in my mind made me a better photographer. I look at two photography blogs everyday and almost all my free time (which is limited) is spent searching the world wide webs for more knowledge on things like how to do a certain technique in photoshop or set a custom white balance. I am constantly gathering information on photography. Hopefully it is showing in the blog! Thank you for following my progress!!!!

Day 83

This is a small section of what happens when you put me and my Girlfriend together for 7 hours. We took up my moms entire 8' x 5' white board with our wonderful artwork. That's a lot of whiteboard! The end result is beautiful though. I am thinking about leaving it up until my mom needs the board.

Day 82

This pair of shoes was hanging on the power lines at the end of my neighborhood. I saw the opportunity to capture a classic moment in every ones childhood. The bully would come take someones shoes off of their feet and proceed to tie them together and throw them over the nearest power line or other high object, all while the rest of the school watched. I know everyone has seen this moment in their elementary school or at least on TV. This picture captures the after math of that moment. The kid has probably gotten some new footwear and the bully has gone on to pester another innocent child but those shoes are still up there alone. After seeing them I smiled because they reminded me of when I was in elementary school. Though this tragic moment never happened to me it makes me feel like a little kid again watching as the shoes soared over the power line and wrapped around them never to touch the ground again.

Day 81
This is the bigger picture that I posted yesterday. That close up picture was a part of the moths wing and this is the rest of that moth.

Day 80

At camp there were tons of these trails everywhere. The kids that have been there for several years know all of them and use them to get around. Normally to get from the lake to our campsite it would take about 25 minutes of walking. If you knew the shortcuts you could probably shave off about 10 minutes. They were very helpful for getting around camp when you were late to your classes.

Day 79

This is a picture I took at camp right before it went dark outside. The sky was a really pretty blue and the clouds were fairly ominous.

Day 78

Ah fire. At boy scout camp fire is every boys best friend. You can warm up dry off and listen to stories that are being shared. This is what brings the troop together at night.

Day 77

You know those pictures in the magazines where they show a small section of a photograph and you try to guess what it is? Well that's what I'm doing here. I will post the full size picture tomorrow so comment below on what you think it is and see if you are right tomorrow!

Day 76

I took this picture of my brother at the local IKEA. He was crawling through the little childrens tunnel with one of the hand puppets.

Day 75

Here is most of my scout troop on a cluster of rocks. When reviewing this picture I noticed a lot of ghosting and faded spots on the image. It reminded me of a old picture that has been exposed to sun for to long. I turned up the yellows in the picture to enhance that look and here is the result.

Day 74

This picture was not photo shopped in any way. The camera that I took there has a panorama feature that will automatically stitch three photos together to make a long image that covers more area than you can get with just one shot. It does a pretty good job but I decided that I wanted a shot that was a little taller so I turned my camera sideways. This is what happens when my camera tried to combine them thinking that they were in landscape not portrait.

Day 73

This is my friend atop the same knob that was in the picture below. Pretty epic picture in my opinion.

Day 72

I am sorry for the absence of pictures. I went to scout camp for a week and just got back. I took pictures while I was there and had lots of fun and took some pictures while I was there. The next couple posts will be the pictures that I took.
This is one from the top of Raven's Knob, the camps highest point that had a great view and a long trail up to it.

Day 71

The lighting is really neat in this picture. I wanted to train my self to use the flash on my camera a little more. I hate flash. I want to learn how to get a nice picture without over exposing the picture. I think I accomplished that in this photo. The little Valkyrie guy is well lit yet he is not a blown out mess.

Day 70

I tried some very stylized editing in the photo. For the full effect try blowing up the image to a bigger size by clicking on it if you are on the blog. Comment on whether you like it or not!

Day 69

This is a dog that we watch on a fairly regular basis. Her name is Izzy and she is one of the sweetest dogs I have met. This picture was kind of an accident. I had the camera on a lower shutter speed to capture the pictures in the darkness that is my backyard. The kool zooming affect happened when I zoomed in while taking the picture.

Day 68

Today I went to a local park to shoot some kids. At least pictures of kids. This little girl has some sass!

Day 67

I made a screen cast of the process I go through to get a picture from my memory card to the blog. The program I used for the screen capture was not very good so the audio is normal but the video was sped up. Just ignore the audio and watch the video and you will be fine. Comment below on what you think about the video. Did you like it? Should I do more?

Day 66

Today I decided that I would try to challenge myself to get a picture that would match a certain word. To pick the word I asked my brother to choose a book off the shelf tell me a random page, sentence and word from that sentence. The book was The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. The word was dizzy. This picture fits dizzy pretty well. I created the affect by zooming in while the camera was still exposing. This created the psychedelic like appearance of the picture.

Day 65

I saw a picture of a water balloon that had been broken by a dart. The picture had the water from the water balloon being suspended in the same shape as the balloon. I was trying for the same effect but my camera shoots at about 4 frames a second. This makes the capturing of the perfect shoot very difficult as you have to time it perfectly to get the water to stay in the shape of the balloon before it falls out of the frame. In my opinion this is a pretty good shot of the water. The color is nice as well for a bunch of water and some trees.

Day 64

I went to the annual YMCA fireworks show. I hung out with friends before the show and ended up not being able to use a tripod. With out it I missed a lot of good shots but managed to get a few really neat ones. This photo was probably the best one of the night.

Day 63

This is one of the horses that live behind us on a farm. Today was a nice day outside so I thought I could try again on the horses. They came right up to me! Apparently they don't find this photographer very threatening.
