Day 60

Perfect angle for a sunset picture. Just behind the trees so that the sun doesn't blind you but you can still see it. It makes for a perfect sky.

Day 59

I tried to get an HDR picture today but the light was bad for the sky. So I broke out the light box again and found my remote controlled car to photograph. The lighting is really neat on this picture and it makes the car look calm. Just like it is about to attack.

Day 58

I took this picture at my grandparents house. They had some really nice flowers and I took advantage of this while we were over there for lunch this afternoon. To accomplish this picture I first took the picture on a Canon XSi camera. Imported them via card slot on my laptop. Opened and edited it in Adobe Lightroom. Then exported it to Picasa. Then finally posted it to my blog. This is better than what I was doing before but it is still not ideal. I am really liking lightroom and all the plugins that are available for it. I found one for HDR images that seems to work quickly and effectively so I think I am going to try that next. I also overhauled the blog today in case you are reading this in a RSS reader. Check it out if you are. It looks a lot better than before thanks to Blogger's new editing features they recently added.

Day 57

I have downloaded a trial of Light room. It is a professional photo managing software. I had to install a plug in to be able to post to my blog from Light Room But it seems to be working. I previously used Picasa and it worked beautifully but I wanted to be able to have more control over the photos in post production and being from Adobe, Light room has pretty good editing software built in.

Day 56

I was setting up a soft box for my dad. He has lots of old bike parts that he wanted pictures of. After I finished setting up I grabbed the first thing that I saw. This is the results of the trial run!

Day 55

I must have the perfect angle for sky pictures from my house. I can step outside right now point my camera up and snap a good photo.
I have to work on exposing the trees just as well as the sky so that you can see them but that would take some HDR (High Dynamic Range) work and I don't have the software to pull it off very well. Photoshop wont cut it on this one.

Day 54

As a photographer i see the lines in everything. Notice those rocks behind the dog? That is an an example of leading lines. It makes you want to look at the dog. Lines draw your eye across a picture and even a page in a magazine. Next time you pick up a good magazine notice that it has lines in it everywhere and you tend to follow a path that was already set.

Day 53.5

I don' really like feet but I do like leading lines. The black and white thing is fun to play with but I think I am going to stick to color. It holds more challenge to me so I enjoy it more.

Day 53

Once again this is a result from taking pictures for my photography class. The black and white pictures don't look bad at all. The only thing is that when you shoot black and white you don't have the option to put in a little color. You can only mess with contrast, highlights and shadows which limits the creativity through color. You really have to pay attention to the lighting in the pictures. Surprisingly the underside of his chin and neck are lit with out the use of a bounce card or flash. This surprised me because the sun was coming from the opposite direction of these highlights. I'm not complaining though. It makes the picture that much better.

Day 52

This picture was shot in black and white, not converted in post production. My dog Gus still seems to be the most emotional character in my family. He always has an expression that makes you laugh or cry. This picture was taken while I was out looking for photographs emphasizing lines for my digital photography class. This picture doesn't really fit that criteria but it is still a great photo.

Day 51

This is my first attempt at actually staging a picture knowing that I would photoshop it later. I added the bullet and a little smoke. What do you think? I think it turned out fairly well and was worth the effort. The results look kinda close to reality right?

Day 50

The sunsets at my house have been progressing in the same way every day. First it is a nice yellow/bronze color. Then it moves slowly through orange into red. This makes the timing of photos from about 6:30 to 7:30 crucial to the color of the photo. I'm not sure if this happens everywhere or if it is just some weird angle for my neighborhood.

Day 49

I love how random snapshots sometimes end up being really kool.

Day 48

This is a macros picture of some flowers next to my driveway. I thought that the stigma on the flower made for an interesting composition as well as the detail on the petals of the flower. I stopped to smell the roses you could say and was rewarded with a nice picture.

Day 47

Like the sink picture this picture this photo has a good lighting. The back lighting and silhouette technique is a really old trick but it works well.

Day 46

A simple picture that has a lot of emotion from my partner in crime. He was very willing to pose for this picture because he was half asleep but I'll take what I can get.

Day 45

This picture demonstrates how lighting can affect a mood in a picture. Even though it is of a sink; this sink is one of the most majestic I have seen in a while. This is only a simple snapshot of what walking around the house can get you. Comment below for picture ideas. Anything around the house will work because I am becoming hard pressed to get photos that still look good and have a variety of subject matters.

Day 44

The more I take night shots the more I enjoy them. They say that partaking in a 365 day photo shoot often shows you what kind of photographer you would like to be and I am starting to think along the lines of Night photography. The city lights and light painting is right up my alley.

Day 43

Light painting is so much better when you get a background. I want a remote shutter release so I can have super long exposures and get more intricate paintings. Right now I will stick to my little people with swords but I have seen some impressive stuff by googling the term light painting including a recreation of the famous Beatles album cover of Abbey Road.

Day 42

I have been getting later and later for posting photographs and I am sorry for it. Hopefully next week I will be able to post pictures of the kids I will be leading around for a week. I will be helping out with the local Cub Scout Day Camp and if they will let me I will tote my camera around all day and post the pictures from that. I haven't had many photos of people on the blog so it might be a nice change.

Day 41

This is what happens when fire get mad. Ive heard stories of it striking from up to ten feet away which, if you ask me is pretty impressive. It tried to eat my camera in this picture so needless to say my camera ended up getting a little hot. Fire has a tendency to make things hot.

Day 40

I stitched together several photos of the sunset at my neighborhoods dock tonight. The color is absolutely fantastic.

Day 39

it was such a beautiful day that taking pictures out side was a necessity. I was planning on getting some shots of the cows that reside just behind this fence. They had already left when I went back there so I missed that one but got a nice picture to show how perfect the day was.

Day 38

If you visit the blog daily you know that there hasn't been a picture up for the last two days and that has been because I was a Relay for Life where I walked around a track and hung out with friends all night. When I say all night I mean all night I got there at 5:30pm on Friday and left at about 7am on Saturday with no sleep in between. I had a great time but it meant that I was hardly alive come when I got home. I slept for about 15 minutes then went to the Home schoolers graduation in which I saw some of my best friends start on their college journey. This is one of the better shots of Matt who was one of the graduates. I am going to miss them all very deeply and hope that they will come back to visit!!!

Day 37

Second attempt at light painting. I saw a really kool video today where several people had a full out gun fight only the guns were made from light painting. The whole movie was stop motion which means that they combine a bunch of pictures to make a movie. It made me think about doing a stop motion video for my presentation in April. Looking forward to it!

Day 36

Whats great is that by doing this blog I have learned that all people have different tastes. I will not like one of the pictures that I post and somebody a week later will tell me that it was their favorite one. That makes this blog really worth it. One person may not be happy about everything I do but they might have that one picture that is perfect for them and no one else. Its really a neat thing to see.
